Course Description: Comfort-oriented massage or
touch can be administered to people with cancer regardless of
the severity of their condition. The purpose of this class is to
train touch therapists in the basics of oncology massage. The
experience derived from this training will create newfound
confidence in bodyworkers about working with clients,
particularly private practice clients, who have cancer or are
recovering from it. Therapists who focus on hospice and hospital
work will also find this course to be valuable for their special

Course Description:
This course gives massage therapists hands-on experience
in a clinical setting with patients receiving treatment in a
chemotherapy infusion unit. Therapists will work in two different
infusion clinics, hematology malignancies and a medical oncology
infusion unit that also sees patients in treatment for such

Course Description: Comfort-oriented massage or touch
can be administered to people with cancer regardless of the severity
of their condition. In this course, participants will have the
opportunity to apply their massage skills with in-patients
receiving treatment for cancer. Massage will be given to people
before, during, and after chemotherapy, bone marrow transplantation,
and surgical and diagnostic procedures. Therapists will have a

Clinical Mentoring
Through Case Studies

Course Description: This class is designed to
systematically mentor therapists who have completed Massage for People Living with Cancer as they take this work back into
practice with their own clients who have been affected by
cancer. Therapists will work in a group of other practitioners
with one of the Oncology Massage Education Associates instructors as mentor. Mentoring will take
place through case history write-ups and group interactions,
mostly via email and occasionally the telephone. Therapists will
receive one-on-one coaching as well as mentoring through a group

Course Description: This is a one-day class for those
who have taken Massage for People Living with Cancer (MPLWC). The
day will be spent reviewing key ideas and skills from MPLWC. Ample
time will be made available for participants to ask questions that
have arisen about clients since taking the 3-day foundational class,
to explore case studies, and further their professional development
as massage practitioners, and for therapists to reconnect with

Ethics, Boundaries and Communication in Massage Therapy —
A Continuing Education Series
This is a series of live, 4-hour classes designed for massage therapists who seek meaningful education in the area of ethics, boundaries and communication. The three classes may be taken in any order. They meet the requirements that many states have for license renewal, particularly the states of Oregon and Washington.
