Massage for People Living with Cancer

This is a 24-hour foundational course usually run over three days. It describes the three main forms of cancer treatment, surgery, chemotherapy and radiation, the side effects caused by the treatments, and the adjustments that must be made when creating a massage plan. Tuitions vary between $425 and $510, depending on the host school. Times also vary but are typically all day Friday through Sunday, 9am-6pm.

Massage for the Chemotherapy Infusion Patient

This course gives massage therapists hands-on experience in a clinical setting with patients receiving treatment in a chemotherapy infusion unit. Therapists will work in two different infusion clinics, hematology malignancies and a medical oncology infusion unit that also sees patients in treatment for such conditions as MS, rheumatoid arthritis, and anemia.

Massage in the Oncology Setting

In this training, therapists will have the opportunity to work with oncology patients undergoing chemo, radiation, surgery, bone marrow transplantation, and apheresis as part of their cancer treatment. The emphasis is in the hands-on work. Prerequisite: Massage for the Chemotherapy Infusion Patient and Instructor Permission.

Aromatherapy in End of Life Care

This course is designed especially for healthcare professionals who work with clients in a palliative or hospice care setting, or privately, and wish to enhance their knowledge and skills in the use of aromatherapy in end of life care. The day will be spent exploring specific, beneficial essential oils, their therapeutic properties, safety concerns, assessment skills, blending dilutions and hands-on activities of preparations for personal and/or professional use.

Clinical Mentoring Through Case Studies

This class is designed to systematically mentor therapists who have completed Massage for People Living with Cancer as they take this work back into practice with their own clients who have been affected by cancer. Refresh, Renew and Review of Massage for People Living with Cancer

This is a one-day class for those who have taken Massage for People Living with Cancer (MPLWC). The day will be spent reviewing key ideas and skills from MPLWC. Ample time will be made available for participants to ask questions that have arisen about clients since taking the 3-day foundational class, to explore case studies, and further their professional development as massage practitioners, and for therapists to reconnect with themselves and others.

Ethics, Boundaries and Communication in Massage Therapy A Continuing Education Series

This is a series of live, 4-hour classes designed for massage therapists who seek meaningful education in the area of ethics, boundaries and communication. The three classes may be taken in any order. They meet the requirements that many states have for license renewal, particularly the states of Oregon and Washington.

Massage and Cancer: Finding the New Normal

Massage and Cancer: Finding the New Normal is a 16 CE workshop is focused on providing touch therapists with an understanding of cancer, a review of various therapies involved in the treatment of cancer and focus on long term and late term effects. These effects will impact the delivery of an informed and supportive massage therapy session. This class will be a blend of lecture, hands on practice with other students in the class, and group exercises. Introductory course for working with clients out of cancer treatment
