Massage for People Living
8 CE Hours
Course Description: This is a one-day class for those who have taken Massage for People Living with Cancer (MPLWC). The day will be spent reviewing key ideas and skills from MPLWC. Ample time will be made available for participants to ask questions that have arisen about clients since taking the 3-day foundational class, to explore case studies, and further their professional development as massage practitioners, and for therapists to reconnect with themselves and others.
The curriculum includes:
A chance to ask questions that have developled since taking MPLWC
A review of open-ended communication skills learned in MPLWC
A review of the pressure, site and position framework for clients in treatment, post-treatment, and the late effects that can be experienced years later.
The application of the pressure/site/position framework to a client specific to each therapists practice
A review of the clinical adaptations needed for clients at risk for lymphedema, including hands-on practice
Therapists will discuss referral pathways relevant to clients affected by cancer
Enrollment Requirements: Completion of Massage for People
Living with Cancer.
